Police in Omsk are investigating an incident in a dacha community where a Rottweiler died, allegedly from bee stings. The investigation was launched after two women from the “Derevoobrabotchik” garden community filed complaints against a neighbor who kept beehives on his property.
One woman, 58, reported that insects had bitten her Rottweiler. Another woman, 47, claimed she was also stung by bees, although police have not confirmed this.
The beekeeper told police that he originally had seven hives, but only one remained on his property at the time of the incident, as he had moved the others to the forest. He stated that upon learning about the dog being attacked, he found the Rottweiler chained to a fence between the properties with a few bees on it. He removed the bees and took the dog to his property.
The beekeeper and a friend then transported the dog to a veterinary clinic, but the animal died en route. The beekeeper claims the veterinarian could not determine the exact cause of death. Following the incident, the remaining hive was removed from the property.
An anonymous post on the “Incident Omsk” VKontakte community, purportedly from the dog owners, alleges that their one-year-old Rottweiler, named Rada, died of anaphylactic shock at the end of May. The post also mentioned that another dog on the property managed to escape the bees.
