Oleg Sotnik has been elected as the head of the Dolgoprudny city district by the Council of Deputies. The election took place at an extraordinary meeting on June 17.
Sotnik previously served as the acting head of the district for one month, starting on May 19.
Sotnik has outlined his strategic goal for Dolgoprudny, which is to obtain the status of a science city.
Additional priorities include improvements to housing and communal services, an extension to School No. 7, the construction of a kindergarten in Khlebnikovo, and the establishment of a multifunctional center (MFC) on Novy Boulevard.
Before becoming acting head of Dolgoprudny, Sotnik held various positions in other districts. From 2015 to 2022, he worked in Serpukhov, initially as the head of the landscaping committee and later as deputy and first deputy head of the city district. Following his time in Serpukhov, he served as the first deputy head of the Mytishchi city district.
Sotnik is 59 years old and a native of Saratov. He graduated from a military school in Saratov and began his career in the Far East as the head of the canteen of a motorized rifle regiment.
He earned a law degree from the Moscow University for the Humanities and Economics (MGEI) in 2002, followed by graduation from the Military Academy of Logistics and Transport two years later. Sotnik retired from military service with the rank of colonel after 30 years of service.
