Novosibirsk Zoo welcomed visitors sporting unusual hats made from recycled materials on Saturday, June 7, for the Ecomir environmental festival. The “Hats Off” campaign allowed participants to enter the zoo for free if they wore headdresses crafted from eco-materials.
The event showcased a variety of creative designs, including hats made from plastic bottles, cardboard, polyester, egg packaging, and other recycled materials. Visitors crafted unique headwear from items like plastic cups, paper, chopsticks, and CDs.
Photographs of Novosibirsk residents displaying their imaginative hats were shared by SAH Novosibirsk JSC on VKontakte, capturing the spirit of the environmental event. One participant showcased a wide-brimmed hat lined with newspapers, while another constructed a cylindrical headdress adorned with maps.
The Ecomir festival and “Hats Off” campaign aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage the creative reuse of materials. This initiative follows reports indicating that the Novosibirsk region ranked 13th among regions with less favorable ecological conditions, highlighting the importance of such environmental efforts.
