Novosibirsk authorities are developing a plan to address the issue of a river eroding the retaining wall and foundation of a house located at 12 Yesenin Street. The situation arose after the wall’s repair in 2024 led to the discovery of groundwater, which subsequently formed streams and puddles that have attracted ducks this spring.

The Novosibirsk City Hall confirmed that the retaining wall was repaired and reinforced earlier in 2024. A meeting in January resulted in the decision to investigate and resolve the issues caused by the underground river. Experts have since examined the site.

“Zapsibgiprovodkhoz” has been tasked with creating a roadmap to resolve the problem, according to the Novosibirsk City Hall, based on the findings of the site survey.

Local residents are worried that the river’s continued erosion could compromise the integrity of the retaining wall, ultimately leading to damage to the house.
