The Novosibirsk Mayor’s office is considering declaring a state of high alert due to the destruction of a retaining wall situated between residential buildings in the Gorsky microdistrict. A draft resolution has been made public on the municipal portal, outlining the proposed measures.
The retaining wall, located behind a central heating point in the area of houses 84 and 86 on Gorsky Microdistrict Street, has begun to collapse. City authorities, including the Department of Emergency Situations and the administration of the Leninsky District, are preparing to be placed on high alert in response. Residents will be informed by employees from the administration and the management company KZhEK “Gorsky”.
Lyudmila Serova, representing the Gorsky management company, stated that they have been monitoring the “deviating/tilting” retaining wall for an extended period and have reported the issue to the district administration.
The management company is also tasked with installing fences and warning signs to alert people to the potential collapse of the structure. Furthermore, they are required to conduct an engineering and geological survey of the wall’s foundation soils with the help of a contractor, and subsequently repair the wall. An inspection of the adjacent houses is also planned.
The owner of central heating point No. 103 will participate in the efforts, carrying out a survey of the building and its engineering communications, followed by restoration work.
The published resolution is currently a draft, and modifications are possible. The press center of the city administration has been contacted for further information.
This incident follows a recent declaration of a state of high alert by the mayor’s office on the territory of two five-story buildings, prompted by the collapse of a well on Dzerzhinsky Avenue in Novosibirsk.
