Abundant watering and regular fertilization are essential for healthy cucumber growth and optimal yield, according to a Novosibirsk agronomist. Cucumbers, being broad-leaved plants, require significant moisture, and a lack of water and nitrogen can quickly lead to yellowing and reduced productivity.
Lyudmila Shubina, an agronomist and candidate of agricultural sciences, advises watering cucumbers twice a week with a generous amount of 7–10 liters per root. This is crucial because the plant uses a considerable amount of water to develop both leaves and fruits.
In addition to proper watering, cucumbers should be fertilized every ten days. Following a consistent feeding schedule, alongside other crucial care practices, will contribute to a successful cucumber harvest.
