No Horses with Infectious Anemia Found at Chita State Stud Farm; Quarantine to be Lifted

The quarantine at the Chita State Stud Farm, imposed due to a suspected case of equine infectious anemia (EIA), is expected to be lifted soon after repeated blood tests revealed no presence of the disease. According to Valeria Staritsina, the stud farm’s director, the results of the latest analysis will pave the way for the removal of restrictive measures.

The initial concern arose after a suspected case, which was promptly addressed by the veterinary service through euthanasia. However, subsequent investigations, including a blood test conducted in April, showed no signs of the illness. A follow-up analysis, performed a month later, is anticipated to confirm the absence of EIA, leading to the lifting of the quarantine.

Equestrian competitions are scheduled to take place at the stud farm in June, signaling a return to normalcy following the period of restrictive measures. The quarantine, implemented on April 24, affected the area within a three-kilometer radius of the Chita State Stud Farm.
