Fraudsters are increasingly using deceptive tactics to gain unauthorized access to user accounts on the Government Services Portal, commonly known as “Gosuslugi.” The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has observed a shift in the methods employed by attackers, with a growing trend of tricking victims into contacting fake technical support.

Attackers are now inducing individuals to initiate contact with fraudulent “technical support” services, often by sending deceptive messages. These messages, typically delivered via email or messaging apps, are designed to mimic automated technical support notifications.

The messages claim that the user’s account has been compromised and provide a bogus phone number for assistance. Under the induced stress, victims dial the provided number, unknowingly connecting themselves directly with the criminals.

Law enforcement officials caution users to be wary of unsolicited messages concerning their “Gosuslugi” accounts and to verify the legitimacy of any “technical support” contact information before initiating communication.
