The St. Petersburg hockey club SKA has a new Board of Directors that began its duties on Saturday, May 31st. Vitaly Markelov, Chairman of the Board of Directors, announced the formation on June 2nd.

Markelov stated that the club’s operations have continued without interruption, both in sports and administrative-economic aspects. The SKA budget will be approved and significant decisions for the club will be made at upcoming Board of Directors meetings.

A primary focus will be on the sports component, including strengthening the team. The club will also continue to emphasize the training of young players and the development of children’s and youth hockey.

The children’s hockey tournament “Gazprom Hockey Cup” will be revived to preserve the continuity of generations within the SKA system.

Markelov addressed the appointment of Igor Larionov as head coach, replacing Roman Rotenberg. He believes Larionov’s experience as a player and coach will help SKA achieve maximum results, highlighting his ability to develop young players.

Markelov assured fans that the club has great potential for development and that changes are aimed at improving team results. He expressed gratitude for the fans’ loyalty and support.
