Music of the Palace Bridge Concert Coincides with Bridge Raising in St. Petersburg

The annual “Music of the Palace Bridge” concert in St. Petersburg took place, offering a unique musical experience synchronized with the raising of the Palace Bridge at midnight. The event, a gift to the city, followed the “Classics on Palace Square” concert.

The concert was held on the Palace Embankment, with the Palace Bridge serving as a backdrop. The stage featured screens displaying images of St. Petersburg.

The musical program was divided into two parts, beginning with operatic classics and transitioning to Soviet-era songs. Soloists from the Shalyapin Music Theater, including Elizaveta Mikhayova, Tigriy Bazhakin, and others, performed arias from famous operas such as “Ruslan and Lyudmila” and “Eugene Onegin.” The second part of the concert showcased well-known Soviet music.

Scenes and images created by video artist Vadim Dulenko using artificial intelligence were projected onto the raised leaf of the Palace Bridge.

The Shalyapin Music Theater is also preparing for the premiere of “The Queen of Spades” on June 27 at the Hermitage Theater, directed by Ilya Arkhipov. Additionally, the theater’s “Opera for All” open-air festival will take place from July 12–24, featuring performances of “Madame Butterfly,” “Salome,” “The Black Domino,” and “Khovanshchina.”
