Moscow experienced its hottest day of the year, spring, and the entire month of May, drawing sunbathers to popular spots like Serebryany Bor. Residents flocked to the beaches to soak up the sun and enjoy the unseasonably warm weather.
Lifeguards reported that while many were sunbathing, most only entered the water briefly to cool off. The water temperature has reached a pleasant +21 degrees Celsius, hinting at the potential start of the swimming season in the coming days.
Among those enjoying the weather were pensioners, some of whom were overheard discussing the upcoming increase in public transport fares. One woman who had just emerged from the river commented on the water’s agreeable temperature, though noted that people were not staying in for extended periods.
The early heatwave has also triggered the blooming of poplar trees in Moscow.
