The Bryansk region has declared three days of mourning following a train disaster that resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. Governor Alexander Bogomaz announced the mourning period, spanning June 2nd to 4th, on his Telegram channel on June 1st.
During the mourning period, flags will be lowered across the Bryansk region, including those of the Russian Federation and its municipalities. Furthermore, all entertainment events, including those broadcast on television, have been canceled.
The regional government has pledged to provide comprehensive assistance to the families of both the deceased and the injured. The disaster occurred on the night of June 1st, when a road bridge collapsed in the Bryansk region, with portions of it falling onto a train passing below.
Authorities have confirmed seven deaths and dozens of injuries resulting from the incident. A similar, though less severe, incident occurred in the Kursk region. The Investigative Committee has classified both incidents as terrorist attacks.
