A 15-year-old from St. Petersburg has been identified as the mother of the newborn girl found outside an apartment building in Dubrovka. The girl reportedly gave birth in a toilet, became frightened, and threw the baby out the window.

The new mother admitted that she was aware the baby was alive when she discarded her. Criminal investigators located the girl, who is registered in the Kalininsky district of St. Petersburg, but had been living with her boyfriend’s family for the past six months in the Vsevolozhsk district.

According to law enforcement sources, the girl claimed to be unaware of her pregnancy. She stated that on the day of the incident, she went to the toilet and the baby was unexpectedly born. Panicked, she placed the child in a bag and threw her out of the window.

Janitors discovered the newborn, who is currently being cared for in the Vsevolozhsk maternity hospital. The Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case of attempted murder.
