Norek Avadoyan and his mother, Nina Avdoyan, have been taken into custody in Novosibirsk in connection with an attack on a REN TV film crew. The Dzerzhinsky District Court ordered their pre-trial detention on June 9, setting their release date for August 7, 2025.

The charges against them stem from allegedly obstructing the lawful professional activities of journalists. This falls under Part 3 of Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The incident occurred on June 7 in the Dzerzhinsky district, where the REN TV crew was filming a story about alleged fraud by local residents. While filming, the journalists were reportedly attacked.

According to the investigation, two individuals approached the film crew and demanded they cease filming. The individuals then allegedly inflicted bodily harm on the journalists and damaged their video camera and telephone.

Irina Volk, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated that the attack was carried out by three residents of a house on Karavaeva Street, who were allegedly armed with sticks. The victims were members of the REN TV channel film crew.

The court’s decision is not yet legally binding.
