“Mostotrest” to Overhaul Sverdlovskaya Embankment for 1.1 Billion Rubles

“Mostotrest” seeks a contractor to overhaul St. Petersburg’s Sverdlovskaya Embankment for a maximum contract price of 1.1 billion rubles. The project, announced on a public procurement website on May 30, includes comprehensive repairs to the coastal protection structure.

The scope of work encompasses road work, landscaping, major repairs to the embankment itself, and the construction of stairways. Applications are being accepted until June 16, with the winner of the open competition to be announced on June 19.

Sverdlovskaya Embankment, situated in the Kalininsky and Krasnogvardeisky districts, connects Malookhtinskaya and Arsenalnaya Embankments, stretching from Vatutina Street to Malookhtinsky Bridge.

A key aspect of the project involves modifying the existing surface water drainage system from the technical sidewalk. The current system features a transverse slope toward the Neva River, with water draining from the upper tier into storm sewer wells on the lower tier sidewalk of the embankment wall.

The redesigned system will redirect the transverse slope of the technical sidewalk toward the roadway, channeling water drainage into the existing and planned storm sewer system of Sverdlovskaya Embankment. According to explanatory notes, this design change will mitigate further contamination and destruction of the granite cladding on the retaining wall of the upper tier caused by water exposure.

The overhaul is planned to be executed without disrupting traffic flow on the roadway. However, access for cyclists and pedestrians will be restricted during the construction period. The completion of the work is scheduled for no later than August 31, 2026.
