The “Svetofor” store located on Nizhegorodskaya Street in Moscow has been shut down for the second time, with indications suggesting this closure may be permanent. The Tagansky Court of Moscow ordered the closure following repeated violations of sanitary regulations.
The court’s decision, prompted by findings of unsanitary conditions, mandates a 90-day closure for the store, specifically located at building 32sA. LLC “TORGSERVICE 150,” the legal entity responsible for the store, was found guilty of violating sanitary rules and hygienic standards.
“Svetofor” representatives stated that the company planned to close the store on May 31, prior to the court’s ruling, citing the location’s lack of parking and overall unsuitability. The company said they did not contest this closure as they had done with previous administrative penalties at other locations.
Earlier in April, Rospotrebnadzor successfully petitioned the court to prevent the store’s opening due to various issues, including chipped walls and ceilings, rust on refrigerators, and worn floor tiles. Despite acknowledging completed repairs, disinfection, cleaning, and temperature control measures, the department highlighted 11 points of concern.
“Svetofor” had previously argued that Rospotrebnadzor’s stance was contradictory, asserting that repair-related shortcomings do not typically warrant store closures and that the building owner is responsible for unloading areas. They also claimed the department failed to provide specific recommendations for addressing the violations.
