Moscow Weekend Events: VK Fest, Exhibitions, Theater, and More

Moscow offers a vibrant array of events this weekend, despite the forecast of rain and thunderstorms. From music festivals to art exhibitions and theatrical performances, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The highly anticipated VK Fest will take place on July 19-20 in Luzhniki. This cultural and entertainment marathon will feature performances by top pop and hip-hop artists such as Polina Gagarina, Sergey Lazarev, ANNA ASTI, and many more. In addition to music, the festival will offer creative workshops, lectures, activities from bloggers, photo zones, and shows. Tickets cost 5300 rubles for one day.

Art enthusiasts can visit the GES-2 House of Culture for the new large-scale exhibition “If the walls became water,” dedicated to the architect Lina Bo Bardi. The exhibition showcases her humane approach to architecture through installations, sketches, drawings, models, and photographs. Admission is free upon registration.

The “Teatralny Boulevard — 2025” festival continues with various performances and creative meetings. The Rap Theater will present “Crime and Punishment” and “Retreat” at the “Polytech” park, while “Kashtanka” will be performed on Chistoprudny Boulevard. Other events include promenade performances about Mayakovsky, a musical evening in honor of Tabakov, and interactive activities for children. Admission is free, with registration required for some events.

The Museum of Moscow and the Museum of Transport of Moscow are hosting a joint educational program for the exhibition “High Underground,” celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Moscow Metro. A children’s master class, “Mosaic in the style of the metro: the art of the underground,” will take place on July 19. Tickets cost 600 rubles.

The Motherland Festival returns to Moscow on July 19-20 at the Moscow GPZ-1. The festival will feature four stages and over 40 independent artists, including headliners Zoloto, “Obe Dve”, “Give Tank (!)”, and “Red Banner Division named after my Grandmother.” Tickets start from 3200 rubles for one day.

Extreme sports fans can head to Luzhkova Park on July 19 for “THE BOWL 9” festival. This event will bring together the best Russian skateboarders and BMX riders in Moscow’s largest concrete bowl. The festival will include skateboarding lessons and performances, with the CAPTOWN group headlining. Admission is free.
