Moscow’s renovation program, ongoing since 2018, continues with new construction and demolition tenders in the Western Administrative District, specifically in Ochakovo-Matveevskoye, Fili-Davydkovo, and Mozhaisky districts. The plans involve demolishing 83 existing buildings and constructing dozens of new residential buildings to relocate residents.
In Ochakovo-Matveevskoye, where 19 five-story buildings have already been relocated, authorities plan to demolish 30 more houses and build 14 new ones at an estimated cost of 81.3 billion rubles. The new houses will be located on Ozernaya, Bolshaya Ochakovskaya, Maria Polivanova, Nikulinskaya and Veernaya streets. Three of the new buildings will feature underground parking lots convertible into shelters, accommodating 7,300 people. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with residents moving in by 2028. Standard apartment finishes include white non-woven wallpaper, tiled kitchen areas, and complete plumbing in bathrooms. Two residential complexes are currently under construction on Veernaya Street and Bolshaya Ochakovskaya, designed for 1037 apartments and slated for completion in 2026.
Fili-Davydkovo, which has seen the relocation of residents from 26 old houses, will undergo further demolition of 23 five-story buildings, replaced by eight new high-rises, at a cost of 60.6 billion rubles. Demolition will affect houses on Kastanaevskaya, Oleko Dundicha, Gerasima Kurina and Minskaya streets. The new buildings will have standard amenities, including ground-floor commercial spaces and standardized apartment finishes. Four of the eight new buildings will have shelters that can accommodate 7,200 people. Construction will mainly occur between 2026 and 2027, with some houses being built until 2031. Five residential complexes are currently under construction, offering 2,688 apartments, including a 31-story tower.
In Mozhaisky district, 19 new houses will be built, with 22 buildings on Govorova, Tolbukhina, Marshal Nedelin, Zaporozhskaya, Bagritsky, Gvardeyskaya and Kubinka streets scheduled for demolition at a cost of 91 billion rubles. Construction is planned to take place in 2029–2032. Three residential complexes are set to be completed in 2025, providing 637 apartments on Bagritsky, Govorova and Kubinka streets.
The renovation program aims to replace outdated five-story buildings with modern housing, but has faced some criticism from residents regarding construction noise, dirt, and concerns about service quality in the new high-rise buildings.
