Moscow Events: Sports, Art, Music, and Festivals Await This Weekend

Moscow is gearing up for a vibrant weekend with a diverse range of events, catering to various interests from sports and art to music and cultural festivals. Despite a forecast of cooler temperatures and possible rain, the city promises a lively atmosphere with numerous activities taking place across different venues.

One of the highlights is the “Moscow Sports Night” on August 2nd, a city-wide event featuring sports activities, master classes, demonstrations, tournaments, and meetings with famous athletes at 17 venues in the city center. Additionally, a large-scale bicycle race along the Garden Ring is scheduled for the evening, requiring registration.

Art enthusiasts can explore the “Figure of Speech” street art exhibition, a collaboration between Moskomarkhitektura and the Winzavod CCA, showcasing the evolution of visual language on a nearly 100-meter-long wall. The exhibition features the work of six Russian artists.

For those seeking circus entertainment, the “Five Circuses – One Arena” show on August 1st will bring together performances by world-renowned artists at the Yuzhnoye Butovo landscape park. The gala show will be hosted by Edgard Zapashny and Roman Korobko.

Music lovers can head to the Leveldva club for the “Red Finch x Leveldva Party” on August 2nd, a “chillrave” event featuring electronic music across two stages. The dog-friendly event encourages relaxation and enjoyment of music from various artists.

The “Art Boulevard” Festival on Gogolevsky Boulevard will transform the space into an open creative area, with activities including painting antique statues, performances by Greek muses, lectures by art historians and artists, and a headline performance by Alexander F. Sklyar. The festival area will be divided into thematic zones for aspiring performers and artists.

Immerse yourself in Russian culture at the “Craft. Traditions. Art” festival in Kolomenskoye from August 1st to 3rd, featuring lectures on folk costumes, performances by fashion designer Varvara Zenina, master classes in weaving, pottery, and ancient sewing, and demonstrations of ancient Russian construction techniques. The festival also includes round dances, folk games, excursions, and floral workshops.

VDNKh will celebrate its birthday this weekend with several large-scale events, including the Reactor video game festival at the ATOM pavilion and the ProDvizheniye festival showcasing rare historical cars.

The opening of the Urban Economy Festival in Luzhniki on August 1st will feature a brass band performance, a waltz of fire ladders, and a motorcycle show, offering visitors a glimpse into the daily work of the metropolis.
