A 20-year-old woman has been sentenced to six years in prison for attempting to sell her newborn daughter for $1,000. The Izmailovo District Court of Moscow found Zhasmina Aleksandrovich guilty of human trafficking. She will serve her sentence in a general regime penal colony.
The crime was prevented by law enforcement officers. The attempted sale was to take place in an apartment on 3rd Parkovaya Street, but authorities intervened. Aleksandrovich was detained and subsequently placed in pre-trial detention.
The investigation revealed that Aleksandrovich gave birth to the child on February 1, 2025. She allegedly traveled to Moscow specifically to sell the baby.
Following Aleksandrovich’s arrest, authorities searched for her relatives to potentially transfer the child into their care. The baby was initially sent to a hospital. Officials noted that the mother is not a Russian citizen.
