Areg Schepikhin has been placed in pre-trial detention by a Moscow court following his reported abduction at the Yaroslavsky railway station. The Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow ordered the two-month detention on June 6, according to the press service of the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction.
The court hearing was conducted without the presence of journalists or the blogger’s relatives.
Schepikhin faces charges under articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation related to “Public calls for extremist activities” and “Incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity.”
