Moscow Court Bans “Lesta” for Alleged Extremist Activities, Threatening Game Publisher’s Operations

The Tagansky Court of Moscow has banned the activities of Lesta, the publisher of popular games like World of Tanks and World of Warships, following allegations of extremist activities. The court granted the claim filed by the Deputy Prosecutor General against Viktor Kislyi and Malik Khatazhaev, the founders of Wargaming and Lesta respectively, leading to the seizure of Lesta’s assets.

100% of Lesta’s shares in Russian legal entities will be converted into state revenue. The Prosecutor General’s Office had previously sought the ban, asserting that Kislyi and Khatazhaev were supporting the Ukrainian armed forces.

Lesta is expected to be added to the list of terrorists and extremists, according to TASS.

In response to the court’s ruling, Lesta released photographs and videos showcasing gratitude from Russian military commanders for the company’s support in the Special Military Operation, as well as highlighting other patriotic projects.

While lawyer Alexey Koitov emphasizes that future actions depend on the specifics of the court’s decision, State Duma Deputy Anton Gorelkin believes that the assets will likely be transferred to a Russian company following an appeal.

The court’s decision does not affect players of World of Tanks and World of Warships, nor does it impact the broader group of companies or its contractors.
