Moscow is preparing for another day of severe weather, including strong winds, thunderstorms, and possible hail, following a weekend of heavy rains and flooding. The capital city’s emergency services are urging residents to take precautions.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations advises people to park their cars in safe locations and avoid standing near billboards. The expected weather on June 9th mirrors the conditions experienced on the previous day, with short-term showers, thunderstorms, and the potential for hail and squally winds.
Over the weekend, severe weather caused significant disruptions. Strong winds on June 8th felled 62 trees and damaged 28 vehicles. Flooding affected various parts of the city, including courtyards, streets, and the Komsomolskaya metro station.
Vnukovo Airport also sustained damage during the storm; the roof of the passenger terminal was compromised, leading to flooding inside. This resulted in adjustments to the flight schedule.
