Moscow Announces Approved and Prohibited Swimming Locations for Summer

Moscow’s Department of Rospotrebnadzor has released its list of designated swimming and recreation areas, giving residents the green light to cool off in seven locations. However, officials are cautioning against swimming in other areas due to health concerns.

Swimming is permitted at “Beloe” Lake (Eastern Administrative District), “Chernoe” Lake and Shkolnoe Lake (Zelenograd Administrative District), Troparevo (South-Western Administrative District), Meshcherskoe (Western Administrative District), and Serebryany Bor-2 and Serebryany Bor-3 (North-Western Administrative District).

Swimming is currently prohibited at “Levoberezhye,” “Dinamo” beach, Golovinsky ponds, and Bolshoy Sadovy pond, all located in the Northern Administrative District, due to not meeting Rospotrebnadzor standards.

Two additional locations—Bolshoy Gorodskoy pond in Zelenograd and Putyaevsky pond No. 1 in the Eastern Administrative District—are temporarily closed for renovation.

The city also provides 39 areas for recreation where swimming is not allowed due to the water quality not meeting sanitary standards.

Authorities warn that swimming in unauthorized locations could expose individuals to diseases such as viral hepatitis A, Staphylococcus aureus, pyogenic streptococcus, and pityriasis versicolor.
