Two Moscow airports, Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo, have temporarily suspended flight operations for both arrivals and departures. Rosaviatsia confirmed the restrictions, citing the need to ensure passenger safety.

The airspace closure has led to flight delays and diversions. Flights en route to Moscow are currently circling the Moscow region and neighboring areas, awaiting clearance to land. Affected flights originate from cities including Grozny, Kirov, Antalya, and Yerevan.

Passengers are experiencing delays, with some reporting a lack of official updates from airport authorities. Flights to various destinations, such as Izmir, Grozny, Dubai, Astana, Ufa, Yerevan, and Dalaman, are also facing delays.

This is not the first instance of airspace restrictions in Moscow, as all four of the city’s airports were briefly closed simultaneously in the recent past.
