Authorities in St. Petersburg are closely monitoring water depths along the city’s beaches, with notable changes recorded near several locations in the Kurortny district. The annual survey aims to ensure swimmer safety and inform beach management decisions.
Changes were observed at five beaches in the Kurortny district by the summer of 2025. The depths near Belye Nochi, Dubkovsky, and Dyuny beaches have increased, while Zolotoy and Chudny beaches have become shallower.
The city began mapping water depths near beaches in 2023 to track changes in the seabed. This initiative allows authorities to strategically organize swimming areas, place appropriate signage, and install designated children’s swimming zones with additional safety measures.
Updated depth maps are being displayed on information stands throughout the Kurortny district beaches.
