Mobile Network Disruptions Reported in St. Petersburg

Mobile network disruptions impacted St. Petersburg residents on the morning of June 4th, affecting subscribers of major operators including MTS, MegaFon, Beeline, and T2. Data from Downdetector showed the peak of complaints occurred around 9 a.m.

Users reported a complete lack of network in several city areas, such as Liteyny Prospekt, Vosstaniya Square, and the Vyborgsky district. Disruptions were also observed the previous day.

One MTS user noted their phone requested network registration twice the previous evening, an unusual occurrence. The most cited reason for the issues is a general operational failure among the operators. Complaints also encompassed problems with mobile applications.

Fontanka reached out to the operators for clarification on the causes of the disruptions in St. Petersburg. T2 responded but did not comment on the reason for the failure.

Similar mass reports of mobile network issues surfaced from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region on the night of Wednesday, May 7. Downdetector data indicated the highest number of complaints concerned operators T2, Yota, MegaFon, and MTS. Users reported difficulties downloading mobile applications and a lack of internet connectivity.
