Medication Use While Driving Could Be Prohibited

Drivers in Russia may soon face penalties for operating vehicles while under the influence of medications that impair attention and reaction time. The State Duma has approved a bill in its first reading to address this issue, expanding the definition of intoxication to include certain medications.

The proposed law aims to supplement the existing Code of Administrative Offenses, which currently covers alcohol, drug, and psychotropic intoxication. The new legislation targets drivers found to have substances in their system from medicinal products that affect their ability to drive safely.

According to a lawyer, the list of medications incompatible with driving may include sedatives, hypnotics, antiepileptic drugs, anesthetics, and medications prescribed for Parkinson’s disease. A driver found to be in violation will face punishment if a medical examination confirms the presence of these substances and a combination of clinical signs of intoxication.

Need Criteria for Large Families Could Be Eliminated

A proposal has been made in the State Duma to eliminate the criterion of need for large families to receive state support. The initiative, put forward by a political party leader, aims to ensure equal rights for large families across all regions.

The current system considers the income of large families when determining eligibility for local benefits in some regions, creating inequality. The proposal seeks to abolish this income-based assessment altogether for large families.

The party leader noted that some regions have already begun to disregard the income of large families when allocating local benefits. The aim is to standardize this practice nationwide, ensuring that all large families receive support regardless of their financial situation.
