Several Russian regions faced significant drone attacks overnight and into this morning, June 6, prompting responses from local authorities and air defense systems.
In the Tula region, air defense forces intercepted and destroyed two Ukrainian drones. Governor Dmitry Milyaev reported that three individuals sustained injuries as a result of the attack and were hospitalized.
Moscow also experienced continued drone attacks. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that a total of ten drones attempting to strike the city were repelled by air defense systems.
Five drones were destroyed in the Kaluga region, near Obninsk and the Borovsky district. According to Governor Vladislav Shapsha, fragments from one of the drones landed on a highway, causing minor damage to four vehicles. Fortunately, no serious injuries to passengers were reported.
In Engels, a residential building on Telman Street sustained damage, and a fire broke out at an industrial facility. Governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, stated that preliminary information indicates no casualties.
The Voronezh region’s air defense forces destroyed more than five drones across three municipalities. Governor Alexander Gusev reported that initial assessments indicate no casualties or ground destruction. The threat of further drone attacks in the region remains.
Flight restrictions were implemented at the Samara airport at 6:09 a.m. Restrictions previously put in place at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, Saratov and Kaluga airports have already been lifted, according to Rosaviatsia.
