A 36-year-old man in the Moscow region has been detained after allegedly setting his lover on fire. The incident occurred in the village of Suponevo, located in the Shchelkovo area.
The Russian Guard reported that the man, who was intoxicated, poured gasoline on the woman’s legs and ignited it with a lighter. Law enforcement was alerted to the incident at a residence in Suponevo.
The victim is currently hospitalized and in critical condition. Preliminary medical assessments indicate she suffered a fourth-degree burn, the most severe type, which can damage skin, muscles, tendons, and bones.
The suspect, a 36-year-old native of the Ivanovo region, was apprehended by security forces and turned over to the police. Authorities are currently determining whether to initiate a criminal case.
Notably, this is not an isolated incident in the Shchelkovo area. In a separate case in 2024, a man in the Losino-Petrovsky urban district allegedly poured lighter fluid on his cohabitant and set her on fire following a dispute. A similar incident was also reported in Serpukhov.
