A 33-year-old man has been rescued after being trapped for five hours in an overturned truck on the Yekaterinburg Ring Road (EKAD). The driver sustained fractures and was taken to intensive care.
The complex rescue operation involved multiple services and specialized equipment. Initial attempts to lift the heavy truck with a fire truck and then a crane proved unsuccessful.
Two heavy-duty tow trucks were also unable to move the vehicle. Ultimately, another truck was required to lift the overturned vehicle.
Rescuers had to “tear off” the cabin from the road barrier and cut away part of it to extract the driver.
The accident caused a three-kilometer traffic jam on EKAD, affecting traffic in both directions. Road inspectors are urging drivers to maintain safe speeds.
