A man has been detained in St. Petersburg following an alleged attempt to force a young woman into a car. The incident occurred in the Krasnogvardeysky district, and authorities are investigating the matter as a potential kidnapping.

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the city and region reported the detention on June 10. The driver, a 45-year-old citizen of a neighboring country, is currently in police custody.

Eyewitnesses filmed the event, which showed a man in a white Panama hat holding a young woman with a backpack and attempting to put her in a car. The footage shows the woman trying to escape, but the man blocked her path. She eventually broke free and ran towards a park after bystanders intervened.

Law enforcement officers determined that the incident took place on Udarnikov Avenue. While the identity of the driver has been established, the police are currently working to identify and locate the young woman involved. They intend to question her to gain a full understanding of the events and to assess the legal implications of the driver’s actions.

Investigators have initiated a formal investigation into the alleged kidnapping.
