Man Charged in Sverdlovsk Region for 1994 Murder

A man born in 1968 has been charged with a murder that occurred in Yekaterinburg on November 23, 1994. He is accused under paragraph “b” of Article 102 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, which pertains to premeditated murder under aggravated circumstances for hooligan motives.

According to the investigation, the accused allegedly shot an acquaintance multiple times with a “Tula Tokarev” pistol in the entrance of a building on Voikova Street. The victim died as a result of the gunshot wounds.

The crime was solved through persistent efforts by the Investigative Committee of Russia, police officers, and the FSB. A thorough analysis and investigation of evidence in the criminal case also contributed to the resolution. The accused was identified through witness interviews and on-site testimony verification.

The investigator has requested the court to detain the man while the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are also investigating his potential involvement in other crimes.

Valery Gorelykh, head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk region, emphasized that the coordinated work of criminal investigation detectives and investigators, along with assistance from the regional FSB directorate, was crucial in identifying and locating the suspect.

Gorelykh stated that the suspect attempted to evade authorities once the active phase of the investigation began. He was apprehended on the night of June 5, 2025, near the Koltsovsky highway in a joint operation by city police and the FSB. At the time of his arrest, the accused was working as the director of a limited liability company in the real estate rental sector.
