A man has been charged with murder and detained in connection with the death of an 18-year-old girl in St. Petersburg. The suspect, the victim’s 27-year-old boyfriend, was discharged from the hospital before being formally charged.
The Investigative Committee released video footage of an investigative experiment where the accused reenacted the crime. He demonstrated how he stabbed the girl multiple times after she told him she wanted to end their relationship.
The incident occurred on May 31 in an apartment on Pulkovskaya Street, where the girl’s body was discovered. The investigation revealed that the victim informed her boyfriend of her decision to break up, leading to the violent attack.
According to the man’s account, the girl was lying on her back when he took a knife from the kitchen and sat on her chest, preventing her from moving. He then stabbed her in the neck. The victim screamed and attempted to fight back but ultimately succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Following the murder, the man inflicted self-inflicted wounds and contacted the police. He was then taken to a hospital for treatment.
On June 4, after his release from the hospital, he was officially charged with murder. The court granted the investigation’s request to detain him, and he will remain in pre-trial detention until July 31. The man has confessed to the crime.
