A lynx was spotted in the city center of Irkutsk, prompting a response from police and specialized services. The animal was seen running through the streets of Dalnevostochnaya and Baikalskaya.

Authorities are urging residents to avoid approaching the animal. They emphasize that the lynx could be dangerous if provoked.

Police are working with the K-9 unit to capture the animal. Residents who spot the lynx are asked to report it immediately by calling 112.

The Irkutsk Zoo has confirmed that the lynx did not escape from their facility. The zoo was contacted about the sighting and confirmed all of their animals were accounted for.

Police advise against approaching, feeding, or attempting to attract the lynx’s attention. If encountered, individuals should avoid sudden movements and slowly move away from the animal, ensuring that children and pets do not approach it.
