An investigation into the condition of the Voytolovka River in the Kirovsky district of the Leningrad Region was launched after reports of potential pollution. Econadzor organized the survey following eyewitness accounts of dead fish and an unpleasant odor emanating from the water.

While inspectors did confirm the presence of foam at the river mouth, they attributed it to the mixing of water masses and strong currents. This phenomenon was also observed near the Lokomotivnoye Depo horticultural society, the source of multiple citizen complaints.

As of June 8th, no dead fish or unusual smells were detected by the environmental specialists during their assessment.

The department has stated that monitoring of the Voytolovka River will continue. Readers of Fontanka had previously reported dead fish washing ashore near the Lokomotivnoye Depo horticultural society.
