The annual “Lenfilm-Club” festival of contemporary cinema is taking place in St. Petersburg this summer, a departure from its traditional autumn schedule. Residents can enjoy over a hundred films at various locations across the city.
The festival, supported by the Committee for Culture, will feature screenings at the Lenfilm Cinema Center, city libraries in several districts, and the T2 Art Space&Co venue on Elagin Island. Admission to all screenings is free.
The program includes a diverse selection of films, ranging from Lenfilm classics to recent premieres. Attendees can look forward to movies like “Zhenya, Zhenechka and ‘Katyusha’” and “Amphibian Man,” as well as newer titles such as the comedy “Wrap Dad for Mom” and the fantasy film “Key of Time.”
Meetings with directors are also planned. A special section dedicated to Soviet children’s films will be presented.
In addition to the film screenings, the festival will feature the exhibition “Heroes of Lenfilm.” The exhibition showcases the work of the studio’s employees during the Great Patriotic War, featuring archival documents, props, and costumes from war films. The exhibition will be located in the halls of the film studio.
The June program includes screenings at the Lenfilm Cinema Center on June 2, 9, 16, and 23, featuring films such as “Heavenly Taper” – “Mussorgsky”, “Sergey Kuryokhin – the man who changed the world” – “Rimsky-Korsakov”, “Science and Life” – “Alexander Popov”, and “Academic Chronicles” – “Ivan Pavlov”.
The T2 Art Space&Co on Elagin Island will host screenings on June 1, 7, 8, 15, and 21, including films like “Divorce by Own Desire” (with director Ilya Severov), “Wrap Dad for Mom” (with director Ivan Arkhipov), “The Gift” (with director Sergei Karandashov), “Heavenly Camel” (with director Yuri Feting), and “Key of Time” (with director Alexey Telnov).
