St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region law enforcement conducted a week-long operation targeting motorcyclists, resulting in approximately 2,500 violations identified by traffic police inspectors. The initiative, aimed at preventing accidents and enhancing road safety, was announced on June 5 by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city and region.

Over 1,300 motorcyclists were penalized for speeding, while 133 were cited for operating motorcycles without a valid driver’s license. Authorities also reported that 93 individuals were found to be riding without a helmet.

Twenty-five motorcyclists were apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol, and an additional 18 refused to undergo breathalyzer tests and medical examinations. Among those found to be intoxicated were individuals who had previously lost their driving privileges due to prior drunk driving offenses. These individuals were detained and their motorcycles were impounded.
