Large-Scale Raid in St. Petersburg to Identify Migration Law Violations

St. Petersburg police are conducting a large-scale raid to identify violations of migration laws, continuing the operation that began on June 3rd. The operation involves various police units, including the State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI) and Rosgvardia officers.

On June 3rd, law enforcement inspected approximately ten “places of attraction for foreign citizens,” including migration service organizations and construction sites throughout the city. Authorities checked about 5,000 foreigners and nearly 160 vehicles.

More than 200 migrants were taken to police departments for administrative proceedings due to various legal violations. State Traffic Inspectorate officers identified about 20 traffic violations.

Almost 30 foreigners who committed gross violations of migration laws have been notified of the need to leave the country. Most of those taken into custody were fined and given notices to correct violations.

Preventive measures are ongoing. On June 4th, riot police were present on Krasnogo Tekstilshchika Street, causing traffic disruptions and migrants to gather along the embankment. Police confirmed that another raid was being carried out on that day.
