The large sandbox near the Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg will not be built this year due to ongoing utility work. The area where the sandbox was previously located has been fenced off.
The Yeltsin Center informed E1.RU that the installation of the popular city sandbox is delayed indefinitely because of repair work at the heating plant.
As a temporary alternative, two smaller sandboxes have been created on the grounds for children to use.
The large sandbox first appeared near the Yeltsin Center in 2017. Architects Petr Lyubavin and Ashot Karapetyan were the creators of the project.
The Presidential Center of B. N. Yeltsin in Yekaterinburg officially opened on November 25, 2015, at a cost of seven billion rubles.
