A large fire has broken out at warehouses containing flammable materials in Pushkino, Moscow region, engulfing 21,000 square meters. The Moscow Region Prosecutor’s Office has taken control of determining the causes of the fire.
The blaze prompted a large emergency response, with 35 pieces of equipment and 121 personnel dispatched to the scene by the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Moscow region. Preliminary reports from rescuers indicate no casualties. The fire has been localized.
Eyewitnesses reported explosions coming from the site. The roof collapsed on 13,000 square meters, and the fire spread to a neighboring building.
According to reports, seven warehouse employees are currently unaccounted for. Personnel have been evacuated from nearby buildings as a safety precaution.
Local residents are assisting the emergency responders by providing drinking water. There are reports that the warehouses may contain car oils and lubricants. A thick column of smoke is visible rising from the burning warehouses.
Following the completion of the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ work, law enforcement officers will inspect the scene and initiate a fire and technical examination.
