A driver has been apprehended on the M-11 Neva highway near St. Petersburg with over 25 kilograms of illegal substances in his vehicle. A criminal case has been launched following the discovery.
The individual, described as a “citizen of the world” born in Soviet Dzhambul who never obtained citizenship, was stopped at the 676th kilometer of the highway. The operation was conducted by the Department for Combating Drug Trafficking, supported by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Pushkinsky district. He was driving a Honda Civic.
Authorities discovered 15 packages containing a synthetic drug based on mephedrone, with a total weight exceeding 25 kg, concealed behind the rear seat of the car.
The suspect is now in custody. Investigations are underway to determine the extent of his travel routes and the distribution networks involved. This is not the first instance of the suspect transporting illicit substances, as he is believed to be involved in establishing substantial drug caches. Regional drug distributors reportedly maintained contact with him anonymously.
