Klyuchevskoy Volcano Erupts in Kamchatka Following Earthquake

The Klyuchevskoy volcano in Kamchatka has begun erupting, following a significant earthquake in the region. The eruption was reported on July 30th by the Kamchatka branch of the Geophysical Survey of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Hot lava flows are visible descending the western slope of the volcano, accompanied by powerful glows and explosions above the summit.

Earlier that morning, the Far East experienced its strongest earthquake since 1952. The epicenter was located in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 360 km northeast of Severo-Kurilsk, at a depth of 17 km, and registered a magnitude of 8.7.

Residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky felt the effects of the earthquake.
