Kira Restaurant Opens in St. Petersburg Offering Mediterranean Cuisine

St. Petersburg has a new restaurant, Kira, offering a diverse Mediterranean menu in a large-scale setting. The restaurant, opened by Andrey Musikhin and Ekaterina Yatsenko, is located in the former “Fabrika” food hall space, near the “Nevskaya Ratusha.”

Kira aims to provide a wide range of Mediterranean flavors, including Greek, Turkish, Moroccan, Spanish, and Israeli cuisines, in addition to Italian. The restaurant boasts a spacious interior, encompassing over 1000 m2, and features a bar, children’s room, lounge areas, and wine cabinets. Future plans include a shop and cigar room.

Despite its size, the atmosphere is elegant, with white tablecloths and numerous window tables. The menu, created by Chef Pavel Tsiklinsky, includes dishes like Iberico ham (3700 rubles) and side dishes such as broccoli with lemon juice and beans with tomato sauce (950 rubles each).

A standout dish is the meze platter (1150 rubles), offering a variety of dips and spreads like baba ganoush, tzatziki, and hummus, served with Greek pita bread (190 rubles). The drinks list, curated by Ekaterina Yatsenko, is extensive, featuring a wide selection of wines from various countries, with prices ranging from 600 rubles to 350,000 rubles.

Other notable dishes include Sicilian ceviche made from dorado (1500 rubles) and mutabal (750 rubles), a warm appetizer with fried eggplant, baba ganoush, and pomegranate seeds. The Greek pasta with spicy beef (1750 rubles) is a large portion of tagliatelle with stewed beef and grated frozen feta cheese, intended for sharing.

Dessert options include a baklava tart (590 rubles) with pistachio biscuit and white chocolate cream, and mini rum baba (620 rubles), which are gingerbread men served with whipped cream. The restaurant has become a popular spot for families with children, particularly during weekend lunch hours.
