A kindergarten assistant in the Leningrad Oblast is facing administrative charges after her five-year-old son was found alone and unattended on a highway. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when a passerby discovered the boy on Primorskoe Highway in Bolshaya Izhora.
The woman, concerned for the child’s safety, contacted the police after finding him undressed and without any adults nearby. The boy, able to provide his address, was being escorted home by the passerby when she encountered a man at the apartment who appeared to be impaired. The child’s mother was not present at the time, though another young child, believed to be under one year old, was also in the residence.
Police located the boy’s mother, a 33-year-old local woman employed as a kindergarten assistant. Authorities stated that the mother had been consuming alcohol while her son was outside. The child then apparently decided to walk home on his own.
The mother now faces charges under Article 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which addresses the failure of parents or legal guardians to fulfill their responsibilities in caring for and raising minors. Following the incident, the boy was placed in the care of his 64-year-old grandmother. Social guardianship authorities have been notified and are investigating the situation.
