Investigation into Bryansk Region Bridge Explosion Reveals Ukrainian Connection

Alexander Bastrykin, head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, has asserted that the explosion on the Bryansk region bridge was a deliberate act of terrorism orchestrated by Ukrainian special services, with the perpetrators fully aware that civilians, including children, were on board the train. This statement, drawn from an interview published on June 8, underscores the gravity of the incident and the alleged involvement of Ukrainian entities.

The Investigative Committee’s findings indicate that a Ukrainian-produced LORA control unit was used in the explosion, enabling the attackers to remotely detonate the device from a considerable distance. According to Bastrykin, forensic analysis supports the conclusion that Ukrainian special services are responsible for the terrorist acts.

Bastrykin has also proposed the establishment of a military tribunal, similar to the Nuremberg Tribunal, or potentially an international tribunal, to prosecute those responsible. He emphasized that the individuals who organized the attacks and those in the Ukrainian military and political leadership who issued the orders have been placed on an international wanted list.

The incident occurred on the night of June 1, when railway tracks in the Bryansk and Kursk regions were targeted, resulting in the derailment of two trains, hundreds of casualties, and seven fatalities. Simultaneously, attacks were launched against Russian military bases in five regions, three of which were prevented. The Ministry of Defense has characterized these events as terrorist attacks and has announced a response.
