An investigation is underway following the collapse of a bridge onto railway tracks in the Bryansk region of Russia, leading to the derailment of a passenger train.
The Moscow Interregional Transport Prosecutor’s Office is leading the inquiry into the incident. The Klimovo-Moscow train sustained damage as a result of the bridge collapse.
Russian Railways reported that a locomotive and passenger train No. 86 derailed on the Pilshino-Vygonichi section, which is a single-track line, in the Bryansk region.
Recovery trains are being deployed to address the aftermath of the derailment.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has dispatched additional resources to the scene.
Emergency rescue equipment and lighting towers are being transported to the area to facilitate work during nighttime hours.
