An intelligent video surveillance system has been deployed on eight port tugboats operating in Russian waters, spanning from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok. The technology, a collaborative effort between MTS and St. Petersburg-based Armada, aims to enhance maritime safety and streamline crew condition monitoring.
The digital complex provides real-time surveillance of crucial vessel locations, including the bridge, bow, and stern. This comprehensive monitoring allows for immediate assessment of onboard activities.
According to developers, the system is designed to capture emergency situations and transmit video data through a secure cellular network to protected cloud storage. Crew status checkpoints have also been integrated into the system.
The solution is built upon MTS’s Sphere hardware and software complex. Intelligent video surveillance of this kind is already in use in agricultural businesses within the Leningrad region.
Alexander Solovenchuk, Director of MTS in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, stated that their software package is designed to facilitate remote monitoring of vessel conditions, swift identification of critical situations, efficient resolution of issues, and assurance of crew and cargo safety. He also mentioned that the pilot project began at the close of the previous year and collaboration is ongoing.
Armada, a company specializing in ship equipment and serving ports in St. Petersburg, Vyborg, Ust-Luga, Murmansk, and Vladivostok, is a project partner. CEO Evgenia Cherkasskikh emphasized that the implementation of intelligent solutions enables rapid and realistic responses to changes in onboard situations and enhances the overall safety of maritime transport.
Future plans include the installation of the video surveillance system on several dozen additional tugboats.
