Installation of Span Beams Begins on Murino Bypass Near St Petersburg

Construction of the Murino bypass near St. Petersburg is progressing, with the installation of span beams now underway. The Leningrad Region administration reported on May 30 that work is proceeding as planned.

At the section aligned with Piskarevsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg, the abutment wall is being concreted on one of the supports, and the installation of span beams is imminent. Completion of all three spans is expected within a month.

Following the span installation, the next steps include laying asphalt, installing curb stones and drainage trays, and erecting noise barriers.

This year, the contractor has focused on building a 3-kilometer section of the road and finishing the bridge over the Okhta River. Pile driving for the bridge began in the fall of 2023, and support construction started in the summer of 2024.

Sergey Kharlashkin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Leningrad Region for Transport and Energy, expressed confidence in the project’s timely completion during an inspection. He stated that the project is progressing well, materials are available, and utility relocation issues have been resolved, ultimately improving transport accessibility for Murino residents.

The Murino bypass, including the bridge, will span 7 kilometers, with 1 kilometer located within St. Petersburg. The road will provide a direct connection between Murino and Piskarevsky.

The four-lane highway will have a design speed of 100 km/h.

The project, part of the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, according to the state contract. The total cost of the road exceeds 8 billion rubles.
