A 49-year-old woman was mistakenly detained in a Novosibirsk supermarket on Friday, June 27th, after being confused for her twin sister, who had previously stolen 100,000 rubles worth of food. The incident, which unfolded like a “Hollywood script,” was reported by the “Guardia” security agency’s Telegram channel.

The woman vehemently denied the accusations, and it was eventually revealed that she was telling the truth. According to Guardia, the woman has a twin sister who leads a criminal lifestyle, causing a rift between them, despite living in the same city.

The confusion arose because the criminal sister had been captured on CCTV during past thefts, leading to the innocent sister’s detention. The woman provided her employer’s contact information, who confirmed that she was on a business trip during the times her sister committed the thefts.

CCTV footage was reviewed and confirmed differences in the sisters’ appearances. After realizing the mistake, the supermarket staff apologized to the woman and released her.
